it's not about food but it is fabulous and it is local...

The Ginko biloba is without a doubt one of the most attractive of all the deciduous trees about and the specimen at Coolart Wetlands and Homestead is testament to that. Right now it is at it's peak autumnal glory.... go on, go take a look if you are nearby!

a fabulous afternoon

A massive thanks to all of you who came along to the afternoon tea at RW Stone Pavilion on Sunday.

It was fabulous to meet you all, to listen to your stories and to hear how you would like to be involved.

We will be in touch with everyone shortly to make further plans and to keep this project rolling.

Hope you enjoy these pics from the day!

not long now...

So it's not long now until our afternoon tea -

Sunday May 20th 2-4pm @ RW Stone Pavilion

This little Project - Our Somers Project - has been thrown out there and the response and interest has been both amazing and heartening. People are excited about what we are doing and want to be involved, we have had recipes emailed, visited homes to watch tasty treats been cooked and have been invited yabbie catching, mushroom hunting, whiting fishing and to participate in the cooking of traditional family favourites.

On Sunday May the 20th we hope that anybody who's interested in what we are up to may come along to meet us, have a cuppa, enjoy some afternoon tea and to let us know how they would like to be involved.

Involvement can be as simple as passing us a recipe that you would like to be included or to let us know when you are preparing it yourself and we will come to you - for photography, not for dinner!

This is a community project that we hope will bring Somers together to create a keepsake book of collected treasured recipes - the profits from the sales of which will go back towards support Somers community groups.

We hope to see you soon!

To all the Mothers with Love xx

Chocolate Dipped Tea-Bag Shortbread - is this not the most perfect recipe to share the week prior to Mothers Day. What Mother, Grandmother or other special person wouldn't love getting a bag of these little delights this coming Sunday?

Created with what can only be described as one of the easiest shortbread recipes around they were then dipped in either white, milk or dark chocolate and given that homelove touch with some cute bag tags.

Beat 250grams of unsalted softened butter together with 1 cup of icing sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla essence until light and creamy. Add 2 and a 1/4 cups of plain flour and 1/2 cup of cornflour until the mixture comes together, knead until smooth and then wrap in baking paper and refrigerate for 25 minutes. Roll out between two sheets of baking paper to around 5mm thick and then cut into teabag shapes - the easiest way to make the hole at the top is with a straw. Place onto trays lined with baking paper and bake for 15 minutes in an oven pre-heated to 160˚C. Once cooled dip in melted chocolate and attach the tea bag string.

Oh and don't forget to click HERE to download the super cute tea bag tags....and HERE for our amazing Mothers Day door hanger
(we might just pop ours up every weekend!)

Happy Mothers Day
